The 10th San Diego Asian Film Festival is begins today with Sundance favorite Children of Invention. Director Tze Chun will be in attendance. For only $15, your opening night ticket includes a pre-reception and the after party with free food and drinks.
Be the first on the west coast to watch the sageuk extreme film Red Cliff, directed by the legendary John Woo (Hard Target, Face/Off, Mission: Impossible 2). Billed as the most expensive film ever produced in Asia, Red Cliff, features an all star cast including Tony Leung and Takeshi Kaneshiro. Red Cliff boasts the biggest box office draw in Chinese history. Within Asia, Red Cliff was released in two parts, totaling over four hours in length. The first part was released in July 2008 and the second in January 2009. This year, Red Cliff (Chinese: 赤壁; pinyin: Chìbì) gets an international release as a single 2½ hour film. Catch it as the festival’s centerpiece film on 7pm, Sunday, October 18.
