Our first glimpse of the much-anticipated drama Road No. 1 came with the release of a trio of stills showing the cast on location “deep in the mountains.” Three years in the making, the epic Korean War story stars So Ji Sub, Kim Ha Neul and Yoon Kye Sang, and is being released this June to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the start of the war.
Another project to mark the anniversary is a musical version of the critically-acclaimed film Joint Security Area. The new production, based on both the film and the original novel, will shift focus from ideological differences to “[shed] a new light on North Korea” and also show the natural beauty of the DMZ.
Aibu Saki, from the original Japanese adaptation of Boys Over Flowers, was involved in a minor fender bender, and no injuries were reported. The article notes that last year Aibu was literally the poster girl for traffic safety. Doh!
Japanese drama fans will be interested in this extensive preview of the Spring drama season, promising sequels to Rinjo as well as the speculative fiction drama Pandora.
Yoon Eun Hye is participating in the Pink Wings campaign to assist women in need, and is part of a humongous 80-page photo spread on the charity in the March issue of Vogue Girl.
Finally, a nice story from Thailand about a sick fan who waited hours to see Kim Hyun Joong, only to be forced to give up because of poor health. She somehow got a note smuggled in to the star, though, and in what is being called the Miracle in Thailand, Kim phoned his fan and sent her a get-well present.
