For our New York City users, we highly recommend checking out a special event hosted by the Korea Society, Korean Film in Focus: A Conversation with Bong Joon-Ho. Director Bong Joon-ho has become one of the most powerful creative and commercial forces in the Korean film industry stepping into the international spotlight with his 2006 monster movie The Host. On Thursday, February 25, Bong Joon-ho will sit down to discuss his filmmaking method and his career in the Korean movie industry. Special preview of clips from his upcoming film Mother will be screened. A murder-mystery, Mother will be hitting American theaters on March12. Watch the trailer here.
The discussion will be moderated by Michael Atkinson; writer, critic and professor of film at Long Island University. His writing on film and culture has appeared in The Village Voice, LA Weekly, The Guardian, Maxim, Film Comment, In These Times, and Moving Image Source.
