Meet Marja Vongerichten, host of The Kimchi Chronicles

Marja Vongerichten hosts a new show about food, travel and self discovery called The Kimchi Chronicles. Born from a Korean mother and African-American father, Marja travels back to Korea to discover the culinary and cultural delights she left behind. Together with her husband, famed chef Jean George, and a host of guests such as Hugh Jackman and Heather Graham, Marja brings the tastes of Korea to American viewers. Marja met up with DramaFever in New York City to talk about the Kimchi Chronicles and her favorite Korean drama. Watch the video below.

Have seen several episodes. Wonderful introduction to the food, people, customs and the overall beauty that is Korea. It is a pleasure to watch this show and I am eager to make some of the dishes shown.

Just saw an episode, and it was so much fun to them to bring a new culture with food to the mainstream. The food looks absolutely delicious!

Ilove the Korean Drama i have been hook since a young kid now a adult. i am looking forward to see kimchi chornicles main stream love the found but very hard to find on Long Island NY asia/korean grocery.

Thank you so much, Marja, for bringing me back happy childhood memories through Korean food. I grew up in a poor Korea back in the late 60's, early 70's and emigrated to the US when I was six years old. I've been fortunate to have my mom cook Korean dishes for my family. I have 4 boys who are 1/2 Korean and 1/2 British, as well as my husband who enjoy Korean food. You also have inspired my mom to cook dishes she hasn't in awhile and also brought back for my parents happy memories of Korea. Because of you, I feel I can cook Korean dishes on my own and carry on the heritage. What a truly wonderful series for myself to share with my family!

I I think I'll really follow this show. I really love people. I enjoy different culture and food. Most of all I am happy that A Korean and Black culture knows;Love is love. Many people don't understand One Woman and One Man was created. Nowhere in heaven is it forbitten to Love who you want and to learn what you want. In the furture race bias will be outlaw. If you think about it how can it be a shortage of men unless you hate. Love and food bring unity to all people. I saw an episode of Kimchi Chronicles a few months ago on PBS and loved it! Unfortunately I have not been able to find it on the local PBS station again! I love Asian cuisine, especially Korean food so I will keep looking for this program on PBS.

In a few months we will be selling our Kimchi on-line for those of you who aren’t as adventuresome as some to actually take on the crazy task of making it yourself. Mrs. Kim has been making delicious Kimchi all her life and my brother and I thought we’d share our joy with Americans. Her brand will be called Kimchi Green.
