Get the Updated DramaFever Roku App!

Roku users, we have great news! The DramaFever Roku app received a major update today. Rebuilt from the ground up, here are some improvements you’ll notice right away. If you watch DramaFever on Roku, first make sure that you have received the update. You may need to visit the channel store in order to receive this. Now, let’s look at what’s in store with this update:

1. We’ve given the entire interface an (inter-)facelift, so now menus are more pleasing to use. Pretty!

2. A glitch that had been blocking subtitles on some series has been fixed. This should correct the problem with most series (There may still be a lag with brand-new episodes, as the app catches up to our main site).

3. Subtitles are much easier to read with this update. As many of you have suggested, we’ve added a black border to subtitles, making them stand out much better from the background. Coming next? Customizable subtitles (and much more). Stay tuned!

I like the updates! And THANK YOU for FINALLY getting the subtitles on the last episode of "Can Love Become Money" although it has been so long that I may have to re-watch the series to remember what happened :p Only thing I don't like on the update is the loading screen. I kinda' liked the old one with the loading bar. If that is the only thing I disliked, then I say it is an overall win!

omg thank you DF so much for updating the Roku! I work out and watch drama at the same time (kill 2 birds with one stone? :D ) and not having subtitles on some of the drama's (like To the Beautiful You) was making me think my Roku was defective or something. Can't wait to try out the update in a few minutes!

Yay yay yaya!! I'm having a baby in a couple days and will be spending a lot of nights watching Kdramas on my Roku!!! Thank you for the black background!! I was having trouble reading subs sometimes!! Can't wait to test it out tonight!

It forced the download while I was watching Faith then the Subtitles wouldn't work. I realize its a known issue but really right in the middle of the Episode, Not a Happy Camper. Please add an alert to episodes that aren't working yet and email the those who have the episodes being emailed to them. I wouldn't have been disappointed but I wouldn't have been in the middle of a show and now stuck in the middle of an episode Peeved off beyond belief not knowing when I'll be able to watch it.

I just went to continue watching Faith ep. 17, which I started last night just fine, only to find that it has no subtitles now. I am assuming it is just a glitch with the update, but it kinda sucks.....just sayin'.

DramaFever app isn't working on my Samsung Tab 2 7.0 nor will it work on Nexus 7. App runs but when selecting video clip, it hangs on loading video. Google Tv device (sony tv) plays great. Can DramaFever developer look into it? Samsung is Android 4.0.4 Nexus 7 is Android 4.1.1 Thanks!

Where is the picture quality gauge. The new app does not show you what the picture quality is going to be. That is the only thing I don't like about the new app. I don't like watching dramas when the picture quality is only one or two dots.

Thanks for listening to our suggestions and making those much needed improvements to the viewing quality in the Roku channel. Now I'm waiting for the spanish subtitles option through the Roku.

Thanks for the Roku update! This is my preferred method for watching K-Dramas and the main reason I got a Roku in the first place! I love the new subtitles which are much easier to read, thank you! BUT when will the subtitles for new episodes catch up? I know it's a glitch but I'm having serious Faith/Lee Min Ho withdrawal!! Plus, Arang & the Magistrate is coming to an end and I don't want to be behind...otherwise, great job :)

I love the updates, but agree with what the other viewers are saying about the subtitles. I was getting the subtitles for the newer episodes faster with the old version. It seems like the update actually made the glitch worse.

This Roku channel upgrade is just plain wrong. I can't get subtitles in any new episodes of the dramas I'm watching. I'm tired and angry. And the worst part? I haven't receive an answer from Dramafever. Apparently they don't care if a user cancel it Premium membership. I'm paying for this and also subscribe to Hulu Plus so I can keep watching my dramas. So I'm paying double, Dramafever thanks for nothing!! If anyone has any ecperience with the Kdrama premium service please let me know. I'm seriously considering canceling my current Dramafever membership and get a Kdrama membership.

Wow! Sweet! Still no subs for eps 17-18 of Faith or new eps of Arang or Nice Guy...all the shows I am currently trying to watch. Not the sub situation is even worse. Thanks!

  Did you go to the Channel Store and resign up for DF? You need to resign up to get the upgrade. They will give you another activation code. Did you do that? I did and got the upgrade. I checked out God of War episodes that had no subs on the old Roku, but on the upgrade the subtitles are there.

What is going on??? I am constantly being prompted to REenter activation code or that I live outside USA...which I don't. I am a Premium user that renewed in September and have been having problems since the renewal.

  That's interesting. I gave a gift subscription for a full year to my sister in September and suddenly and inexplicably her Premier membership status disappeared. After emails and telephone calls ( messages only), someone finally called her to say they are looking into it, but perhaps something happened to all of the September subscribers?

  I too am a Premium member who is also experiencing the same "outside USA error". Roku called me twice and attempted several time but failed. Finally I gave my DF password to Roku to check my account at their site, and they too experienced the same problem. So it looks like my Roku is OK, but not DF. Unfortunately I only get email replies from DF, without a solution.

Episodes 17 and 18 of Arang and the Magistrate, episodes 17 and 18 of Faith, episodes 9 and 10 of Nice Guy, episodes 1 and 2 of the Great Seer. None of these are showing subtitles. The Faith episodes have been available for 3 days or so.. just how long does it take for this app to catch up? Not only that I STILL can't get episode 16 of Answer Me 1997 on my Roku player. I emailed you and you said it was fixed and it ain't. No subs on episode 1 of Return of Iljimae either. Emailed you about that months ago.. no fix. I don't know if someone killed the subtitle hamster or someone forgot to flip the subtitle switch but it's getting annoying. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS.

PREMIUM MEMBERS if we want Dramafever to take seriously and resolve our complaints we will have to CANCEL OUR MEMBERSHIPS. I had written to them five times but they don't even bother to answer. And the worst part? I'm not the only one complaining about the Roku app glitch. Apparently Dramafever take us for idiots who will not quit their service because we love kdramas so much. Does our love for kdramas means we have to endure paying for a crappy service and not getting our problem solve or at least an Official answer to our complaints? SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT IT...DRAMAFEVER DONT RESPECT THEIR PREMIUM MEMBERS.

My wife and I really enjoy Drama Fever on our Roku. The Korean historical dramas are our second favorite programming. However, we wish you could add additional Chinese language programming, which is our favorite programming segment. But, the Chinese selection is so limited. I appreciate the new subtitle format. My wife like to watch Chinese language programming, in either Mandarin or Cantonese. Thank you!

Premium member using Roku - while I am happy with most of the new upgrades for Roku - I have been waiting more than a week for English subtitles for eps 17/18 of Faith to show up...still waiting. I can understand a delay of a day perhaps - but this looks like a really serious issue. Drama Fever please explain to your paying customers what the problem is and when will it be resolved? Or is this the performance we should expect from now on - very long delays to get subtitles for new episodes on Roku? I was happy to find Faith 17/18 with English subs over on HULU and ended up watching them there last night.

I noticed a few days ago that there was an update to the roku app but there's a problem. When hitting the pause button, it will automatically rewind instead of an actual pause. Also no button responds to resume playing if it is paused, rewinding, or fastforwding. I have to exit the episode entirely in order to resume play. I've already reached out to Roku who says its not their issue. Please look into this error & let us know. I enjoy the updates, just hope this basic function will get fixed!

No subtitles for me either on Faith ep 17 and some other new dramas. Tried updatingWent to channels didn't see how to do the updates. Annoying. Any suggestions as to what i am doing wrong? I even deleted the channel and re installed it. Nothing is working.

I am having the same issues as most of the other people here, where the subtitles for many new episodes of shows aren't visible. Although I understand there are always glitches in computer systems, as a premium member, I feel this kind of software issue is unacceptable for what we're paying for. Subtitles are (I would assume) the only way a good portion of us are watching and enjoying these shows. This issue should be addressed by the staff specifically on the front home page of the website, not tucked away as disgruntled comments on the blog.

I was about to return my Roku device as well until I realized the problem was DramaFever. Why aren't members getting instructions on how to update this upgrade? I had to get an account with Hulu to watch Faith this weekend and might as well join them permanently. I will have to cancel premium account with DF.

I guess they listened. I now have subs for all the new episodes. I hope you all do too. This is what I did...they tell you to delete and install and then reboot. I tried that and it didn't update. I deleted DF then rebooted then subscribed to the channel again and had to put in the code. That gave me the update. That didn't help with the subs. I guess today they did something to remedy the situation. Thanks DF for listening if you did fix it today.

All new episodes now have subtitles. I don't know if the Roku app glitch has been fixed or if is takes this long for the app to catch up. Either way I will find out on tuesday night when they release the episode 19 of Faith. Dramafever please don't keep dissapointing your members. We are waiting for an official statement regarding the Roku app debacle.

Ok then, so I visit the Channel Store and what? I already have DF on Roku, did anyone upgrade, if so, let me know how it works. I had a hard time signing in with my code the first time and I am afraid of losing my connection.

  I am replying to myself. I went to the Channel Store on Roku and resigned up for Roku, October 2012 Version. I got another Roku CODE, entered on the website and got the upgrade! Yes, the episodes that had no subs on the old Roku now show the Subs and the Subs with the black frame are much much clearer. I just wish someone would have given me the courtesy of a reply, at DF.I wrote and wrote about this but no one ever got back to tell me what was going on.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues with Roku. I keep trying to add shows to my list of shows, but the newly added shows don't show up. I tried adding the updated Dramafever channel again, but still nothing. I won't complain too much because it only cost me $40 for a year subscription. Compared to other services, that's nothing. But I get the feeling the site is slipping in service. They didn't even bother to add the final episode of "Answer Me 1997" to Roku. Which is crazy, because this was one of the most watched dramas currently airing.

Miss Rose episode 12 was added today and guess what...doesn't have subtitles. Apparently it takes almost a week for the Roku app to catch on. Mode: Angry and frustrated. Dramafever has the WORST SERVICE...Really Dramafever? This is how are you going to keep treating your paying members?

Actually got an email response today : We're so sorry for the delay in responding to your email. We have identified the issue that you reported and we're hoping to have it fixed by tonight. After tomorrow, if you continue to see any programming without subtitles when watching on your Roku, please let us know so that we can get the situation resolved! Lets hope that the fix works. I'm still not getting subs with new episodes it seems its been taking a week+ to catch up.

  replying to myself...I guess I am the only one complaiining. The fix they supposed to have done has not worked. I am still not getting subs on new episodes and its really irritating. So DF if you DO read these threads then whats the problem? If there is more then just me not gettting the subs on new episodes until a week after then please post here so they know. Thanks!

      I don't think a lot of people can find this blog, it took me a while at first, that's why there aren't a lot of complaints on here. The subs are not loading on new episodes in fact its seems they are taking longer to catch up. I'm really tired of this. Yes, we all get emails saying its fixed or they found the problem...but its all BS.

I watch DramaFever Premium. After spending a couple of hours creating a play list, the list is not there. Every time I need to go into a show, I have to use the search feature and start all over. Also, I don't always remember what episode to look for. I really wish you had a contact phone number to talk about such problems. I will cancel your service is I can't get it to work properly.

The most recent Drama Fever update on the Roku is awful!!!! When I select the Drama Fever app from the home screen, it takes at least thirty seconds to acknowledge and open the app. Once the app loads, every button push takes about a minute to register. When I finally get to the episode list it gives me an error and says it can't load, it starts to load and then stops, or it plays for a minute and then stops. It's getting really frustrating not being able to use the Roku app and I will cancel my subscription if it isn't updated with a fix soon. It's not my internet, I have Fios Quantum 50Mbps and have no connection issues.

Yeahhhhh...way to go DF for failing to work out the connection problem with Roku. I purchased a Roku specifically to watch DF...I even signed up for the premium service ($99) which I'm about to cancel (thank god I'm still in the trial period) because I can't watch anything on Roku. The channel won't even load! Ii is really frustrating because it was working yesterday fine and today nothing which really means you guys have some serious issues to fix. I love DF and will have to go back to watching it on my computer (with commercials) until you guys fix these problems with Roku. It is a shame!

** Drama Fever gone from Fantastic to ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE due to their upgrades *** I can't watch Roku since early Dec 2012. It was working very well till then. Now I get a message - (although I have not changed residence, or my connection & roku for past several years) Unable to Stream There was a problem retrieving the video stream. Either: -There was a connection problem -You are located outside of the U.S. and Canada -There was an unexpected error, please try again All attempts to get a solution from Roku and Drama Fever have failed. I have not changed my wireless router or the internet provider. This looks clearly an issue created by Drama Fever during their updates. But apparently they either do not know how to fix it or deny responsibility. Drama Fever......... Please ..Please help !!!!!!!

This still is not user friendly, I have put dramas in my Que on Roku and online website. It shows in the website. Doesn't show in Roku. After every episode I watch when I click on the next episode it returns to Roku homescreen where I have to choose Dramafever again and then proceed to browse for the drama I was watching. Then instead of it taking me back to the episode I wanted or was watching I have to remember the episode I left off at. It's still easier to watch this online. I bought roku specifically for this app so I hope you are continuing to update to where it works more like your website or what's the point?

Why does the comment time stamp remain at very current even after they have been in this page for weeks? Strange?? I still have the Dec 10, 2012 issue where some shows and some episodes are view-able, while most new shows get blocked with an error message - Unable to Stream There was a problem retrieving the video stream. I have told you of my problem on the Great Seer, episode 7, The first problem on this episode has been corrected, The episode now loads, thank you, The second problem has not been corrected, where the episode starts and plays for 20 minutes and freezes. It then gets to the bouncing Roku Logo. After reloading, it plays from the 17 minutes spot til the 20 minutes spot and freezes again and goes to the Roku Logo. I have to go back to drama fever and reload again and gets the same result. I don't know what to do but to complain and see if you people gives a damn about my problem.

What's up with the poor and missing subtitles. How come all of the new dramas translated by DramaFever carry poor english and missing scenes too. This was never an issue with KBS and MBS translated (have to admit professional job) compared to B movie style translation on some of these new crispy clear HD dramas. What a shame. Please fire your translators, they will bring down your business.
