Park Shi Hoo, who has been fighting allegations of sexual assault may have found his silver lining.

A source at National Forensics confirmed that “Traces of drug or abnormal substance use were not found in Trainee A’s blood and urine tests.”

Results of the tests were reported to the Western Seoul Police Department, who is handling the case.

Based on Trainee A’s statement that she “drank a bottle of cocktail soju and doesn’t remember what happened after,” police carried out a drug test, suspecting possible use of date rape drugs.

When Trainee A filed the lawsuit against Park for sexual assault, police escorted her to the gynecologist to perform a rape test and also took hair, blood, and urine samples simultaneously to test for drugs.

The samples were immediately sent to National Forensics for analysis and the samples were tested for drugs such as rohypnol.

Trainee A’s test results came back negative for drug use.

Based on the test results, possibilities of a date rape drug being used prior to sexual relations can be seen as nonexistent.

However, if there is a large gap between the time of the alleged incident and the time tests were carried out, there is a possibility the drugs may have been flushed out of the system so it is still too soon to completely eliminate the possibility.

Experts say that “There is a high possibility of substances being detected within the first 24 hours following consumption, but the possibilities of anything being detected after 24 hours is very low.”

This means that the exact time Park and Trainee A engaged in sexual activity and the time the samples were taken at the hospital is imperative. If the samples were taken more than 24 hours following sexual activity, results of the tests may potentially be completely useless.

Based on the test results, one definite truth is that Trainee A’s statement that she was “unconscious for 5-6 hours” has lost merit.

In her statement to the police, Trainee A admitted that she “did not know she had been raped by Park Shi Hoo until after she woke up.”

She never stated that she woke up during intercourse and showed resistance, leading to the belief that she was “raped while unconscious.”

Unless substances such as a date rape drug were taken, Trainee A’s statement that she “lost consciousness to a point of no recollection of the following events” after having had a few shots  inevitably loses credibility.
