Park Shi Hoo Indicted for Sexual Assault

Park Shi Hoo was indicted on February 18th for sexual assault, after being accused by a person known as trainee A. The 22-year old trainee claims that the two went out for drinks on the evening of the 15th, during which time A says she lost consciousness. The prospective idol says that when she awoke, she realized she had been sexually assaulted, and called the police. Park Shi Hoo says he met A through mutual friends, and that “there was mutual interest on both parties, and he did not force anything on her.” The entire matter is still under investigation. After finishing filming Cheongdamdong Alice, Park Shi Hoo’s relationship with IYAGI Entertainment lapsed, and he is now managed by his younger brother.

Park Shi Hoo’s representatives issued the following statement:

“As representatives of Park Shi Hoo, we would like to state our stand regarding the media reports that were published on February 18th and clarify the truth and misconceptions to fans.

Honestly, Park Shi Hoo has admitted he did drank with A whom he had known through a mutual acquaintance. But there was mutual interest from both parties, and Park Shi Hoo did not force anything on her absolutely. Regarding this, Park Shi Hoo doesn’t feel that there was anything to be embarrassed about. This will be proven clearly in the investigations, and we hope that everyone can be patient and give some time for things to be clarified.

Outside of this, we want to express our deepest apologies to all the fans who loved and supported Park Shi Hoo, and we are sorry for making everyone worried. We want to stress again that fans should not be worried about anything since there was nothing forced in the first place. To prove his innocence, Park Shi Hoo will diligently cooperate with all police investigations.

Finally, we hope that the media and related persons will not resort to mindless speculations or make wild assumptions before police investigations are completed.”

  One can not know if he didn't do anything wrong nor can one know if she didn't anything wrong! If both parties were drunk and we don't know that; so any conclusion drawn now is not the way to go.

The wording of the statements seems to suggest that something did happen between them, but that there was consent. The problem here, though is that the woman doesn't seem to remember anything. If you get too drunk to remember what you did in the morning, you're too drunk to give consent. There are so many issues with drinking, people seriously need to learn how to limit how much they drink or not drink at all. He could have been too drunk to think straight, and the same for her.

You have the choice just like everyone else in the world does I have no sympathy for people who don't want to take responsibility for their actions. Yes people shouldn't take advantage of others while drunk.. but they shouldn't have got drunk in the first place

  According to owner of establishment he looked at the CCTV and said that what he saw was that she was walking fine, by herself when she was leaving with the actor (not being carried, or dragged) and she did not look drunk. If, she passed out, did she sleep the whole night there? If it was rape and she was passed out she would have left the bar alone, but he was walking with her and she looked fine. There must have been foreplay and they are of legal age to have sex. He is following police protocol to the inquiry. My opinion: I sincerely doubt he has to beg for sex- he must have a full list in his cell of numbers to call girls that are in his circle of friends who would enjoy an evening with him with, or w/o sex.

Hope this will end soon for Park Shi Hoo... 1) Why the girl didn't call the police right away or went to it instead of a (violence center)? 2) Could this be something because he recently went on his own... leaving his former agency EYAGI? He seems to be a man of integrity. I wish for him the best and for this to end as soon as possible. As for the (woman) in this case, it is said that she is an aspiring actress... well ... it would probably be left as that.

I honestly feel that because she's hiding herself, she's lying. That way if she's found out, it wont hurt her image. Also, who told her to drink so much? Her fault even if she DIDN'T give consent... Like, you are out with a man. Have your guard up. I think she's lying anyway.

She is probably embarrassed and korean society looks down on those things, even if you are a victim people treat you even worse. especially in korea, i wouldn't want it to be known that it was me. Your question is ...if it would of been me...would I have shown myself. The answer is yes, if someone had dare to "rape" me and abuse me... I wouldn't care of myself other than to fight for justice and make the culprit pay for it. Would it be easy...of course not. I understand perfectly why woman don't want to report this cases, but what is more important.. your embarrassment of fighting for what is just? To me sounds like she was drinking and, they went back to a room and had sex...and thought there would be more to it...Or more money. first of all, did she pass out were they started drinking at (bar, restaurant),and then in up in a hotel or his/her apartment? which makes a difference. Strangers getting pissy drunk, and passing out near a bed, is asking for trouble.Frankly, sounds to me she gave it up...and if they look into her past more and see how many other men she picks up or meet at bars and go home with, she screwed..Do Korea do Sexual assault test on woman???, like they do in USA?? The one thing that gets to me is when ppl start to point fingers at the person who they think is wrong. There's two side of the story & the fact remains that we were NOT there to witness the incident. Opinions are welcomed only if it helps the situation. "Dramas" are ok in the T.V. shows but in real life it's a different story, but that's just my opinion. Also, alcohol, esp. when in excessive, is never a good thing...

  Exactly. I'm going to be cheering for either of them at any point since none of us know what really happened. Just because you think Park Shi Hoo is a great actor, doesn't mean that's enough to be on his side. And I wouldn't jump on the woman's side right away either. There's so much that we don't know, though I can say that this would have been a lot less complicated if there hadn't been alcohol involved.

Could be a case of regret after the fact. So you went out, got drunk and slept with a man. Then you woke up and he was gone or he told you that he had a great time, thanks you and leaves. Now you're mad because he didn't fall madly in love with you? Very plausible. Could it have been sexual assault? Absolutely. Just because he's an actor doesn't mean he doesn't make mistakes. It's always better not to jump to conclusions until all of the facts have been presented. Just my 2 cents.

    regardless of whether it's true or not. If a woman in korea is sexually assaulted, especially if she is famous, they will always hide their identity. The way Koreans see this type of situation is not the same as the U.S. ok? They look down on it, more on the woman than the man. Especially if the woman is well known, it will be looked at as if she is just looking for attention, even if it is true. However if it is just a publicity stunt, then the woman would be doing interviews and be in the public eye. I've lived in Seoul for 10 years now so I know how people here think. But the fact of the matter is that no one knows what really happened so they should not be saying anything bad about either party, it is not their place, it is not anyone's place. I've been here in Korea longer than you, and I've the same observation. Women are treated as a second class citizen in the Korean society. The thing that bothers me is this, and I have noticed it everywhere you go in the city of Seoul, Korean women loved to hang out and loved to drink alcohol like there's no tomorrow, with Korean men. These women loved saying the word " oppa " to their Korean drinking buddies. Now, why on Earth that this alleged accuser be drinking with two guys, the other one she barely knew? I blame the girl. She is 22 years old. She allowed herself to be in that situation. People are saying PSH should know better. PSH was also under the influence of alcohol. Wow. What are all the remarks that this young woman doesn't want to show her face? Why should she? He is being indicted and she will have to "show her face" in court if he is charged! I am sure there is much more to this story from both sides! Everybody seems to be very creative in their comments. Here is a thought. This really sounds like a big misunderstanding. Like a drunken night that could happen to anyone when they drink to much. I don't think he assaulted her (well at least I hope not O.o). However, Just because someone is a big star doesn't mean they aren't capable of these things. The girl could be hiding because she's scared of all the backlash she'll get from fans (which is pretty obvious on this page) would you want your face to be shown if you've been raped by a huge star? especially if you're an average person thats not used to be in the public eye. You have to look at both sides of the story and can't blame one person over a superficial biased. Not all that glitters is gold. We don't actually KNOW these stars. We only see the parts of a star they want us to see. The sort of thinking some you guys have is exactly what has caused criminals to get away with the most heinous of crimes.

I'm with Wanda on this one. When you're being raped, you KNOW that you're being raped at the time it is happening. If you get drunk with a guy and wake up the next morning and realize you had sex... that's what happened. You had sex. If drunk sex is rape, then it should be against the law for people to get drunk.   I agree that it's stupid to not be in control of how much alcohol you consume, for both men and woman. If you unknowingly consume something more potent, however, like a date rape drug then that is a case in which the blame is heavily on the person who put it in the drink. hello! An intercourse without effective consent is rape, and if the victim in incapable of consenting due to unconsciousness, intoxication or mental condition, a lack of effective consent exists! Meaning, it's still rape if you get drunk and pass out and someone has sex with you while you're unconsciousness! No wonder she doesn't want to reveal her identity; she's already being characterized as a money loving drunk whore for speaking out against someone that sexually assaulted her. She clearly exercised poor judgment when she thought she can drink so much with this man but just because a person exercised poor judgment doesn't mean she should bear all the blame! It's stupid to walk alone through dark alleys, but we don't condemn victims of robbery, kidnapping, or homicide for their lack of good judgment. People shouldn't sleep with their doors unlocked, and they shouldn't carry large sums of cash, or walk around in dangerous neighborhoods, or visit bars and get drunk with men! but sometimes we do. We as a community should be angrier with the person committing crimes over the victim exercising poor judgment. Who knows, maybe you will one day exercise poor judgement yourself?

Sounds like she's - looking for attention, regretting her decisions, or hardly remembers anything and is overreacting. People are saying he took advantage "cause she was drunk and he shouldn't have done __ with her", but you know HE was drunk too right? Neither of them were in the best state. Stupid decisions were made from both parties. Most normal people would wake up and go "the fuck did I do that for?" and move on. Not blaming or sticking up for either. I do wunna know why the hell she drank til she passed out later on anyways. I just hope if he's innocent all goes well, and she should be punished. And if he's guilty he needs to do his time. :/ And hope this girl has learned something.

This seems to be a very hot topic to all of us women. What I have read in the article is Park Shi Hoo is not being accused of RAPE. He is accused of sexual harassment which means he harassed her into having sex based on some sort of threat. Then it says she was passed out and he took advantage of a situation, now that would be rape if he had forced his self on her. Let's think about this. These are conflicting statements. Something is not quite right about this matter. I will have to not judge until I hear what the facts are and so far they are conflicting from the individual A.

Wow I see so much victim-blaming in the comments! This is upsetting.... I think the bottom line is, there are a lot of guys that don't realize it's assault/rape/whatever when they do it. If she didn't give consent that means don't do anything. It doesn't matter how she was acting before she blacked out. I feel he's in this (large) category of guys by the way he's cooperating and everything. He is at fault, but society and the way he was taught is to blame as well. The only exception for me, is if he happened to be as drunk as she was and can't remember either.... But you people need to look up victim-blaming and stop saying she's at fault in any way.

i think this post has had the most comments ever...and it's sad. he is a talented actor, but just because he's famous doesn't mean he's not incapable of sexually assaulting someone. that girl is young and is an aspiring actress. she could be trying to collect some money and publicity, but we don't know. it's not wrong to go out for drinks and it is sexual assault if you are too intoxicated to give consent or give consent and change your mind. we don't have all of the facts so we shouldn't judge either party. also, the society in korea is much different from the society in the u.s or other places, so if you are not from there or live there, you don't understand how the system works. if he did do it, he did something immorally wrong and shame on him. if she is lying, then she ruined someone's career and shame on her.

Park Shi Hoo is SUCH A STAND UP kind of guy. Its sad that someone has to come along and make up stories so that she can get recognized in the media. I would even speculate so much as to say that whoever is managing her, may have "implied" that she attempt to do this with ANYONE famous to get her image out there and recognized. She is a terrible person for making such accusations when she should have realized there would be witnesses and cameras to disprove her accusations. I hope she gets punished for doing this because guys can get in enough trouble all on their own without having women making up stuff that isn't even true! FIGHTING Shi Hoo!

Me parece muy fuerte todo esto, es un caso muy extraño, por que los hechos no estan claros pero espero que todo se resuelve por el bien de Park shi hoo y la otra parte. Me da pena la situacion que esta viviendo. En mi pais se han dado casos de abusos sexuales de famosos a anonimos , suele darse en la mayoria de casos veredictos satisfactorios para los famosos. En primer lugar, porque el demandante, en este caso, la victima, se delata con varias contradicciones. en segundo lugar, porque cuando sale la noticia acuden a television rapidamente, cosa que veo erronea, ya que si han abusado de ti no acude a television a divulgarlo, ya que estas mal por la situacion.(opinion personal) y tres son casos surrealistas.

Well with all those camera's in Korea on 24/7 it will either help the accused or the alleged victim; or send the accused to jail or expose the alleged victim as a liar. The facts... the girl ended up in the home of Park Shi Hoo and she woke realizing sexual contact was made on her. We don't know if she was drugged at the bar, in the car or at the home or even drugged at all. We don't know if she drink more on the way to the actors home or drank more in the home. We know Park Shi Hoo has been accused of rape! We know Park Shi Hoo from his statement is declaring he didn't rape anybody but had not declared sexual contact didnt' take place between him and the alleged victim. We know the alleged victim reported being raped. We know Park Shi Hoo according to the article that his people are saying he is cooperating with the police. My opinion: Usually in these cases sexual contact happened, for many young women they too readily trust their dates and why should they not. Rapist do not always were the face of what people think a rapist looks like. Date rape is very common in most societies today & many women don't report it for fear of embarrassment or the back slash that will come with exposing the alleged rapist or rapist's. Maybe Park Shi Hoo did have sex with her but what of his friends who were with them? Train rapes are very common in the US don't know about Korea. Did the girl think a one night with Park Shi Hoo would spike her career? Does Park Shi Hoo have a history with this kind of thing with other girls? Truth is both parties will never be the same after this. Educating ones self is the key when dating or going out for the first time. Teach young girls and boys at an early age how to respect themselves first, make sure they know what boundaries are when it comes to their bodies and personal space. History of so many young girls getting rape on the first date starting in high school continues to show we as a society still have not learn much. Young boys still saying she put it out there so I saw that as an open invitation. According to the law regarding consent if it's hot and heavy for him and if she says "I want to stop"; many laws today say she said "no" at that point so he must stop! How does a young man compute that in his brain when he is about to you know? This is why education in respecting yourself and others personal boundaries and space will help young teens as they head into young adulthood. Finally... Drinking, causal sex and drugs never leads to anything good for all parties involved!

We are humans in this imperfect body we make mistakes.My mistake was writing a comment and in a way not been honest with myself.Like I said yes,I was violently raped but I should have mentioned that I myself also in my 20's went through something similar as what happened to this girl. I was happy, attracted to this guy and he was attracted to me at the time I had a knock-out body.The guy was gorgeous buying drinks generously and just perfect. Why my friends left me alone I can't remember since we always agree never to leave each other alone. Why I went to the guys home I don't know i never did that. When I woke up I knew something happened why or how was too blurry for me. You may say he took advantage of you but remember there was a mutual attraction and he was drinking a lot too (we drank more at his apt.).Could I accuse and destroy his life for a mistake we both did? I said to myself;just learn your lesson and remember this day for the rest of your life so it won't happen ever again and so I did.But now I need to apologize to the girl i didn't think she could have been drugged by "B" guy or even the actor.Anyone is capable of bad actions I criticized how she made it so public.I asked why not go the Hospital do the rape-kit process don't divulge the assailants to the public yet.But I don't know how Korea handles this situation the time limit for prosecution etc. I have a 22 year old and she's very careful but our culture is different and we talk to our kids more openly.The dangers out in the world what happened to me in both times so that she could see that bad things can happen to anyone and we can prevent them. Sadly it could happen to us,our mother,our sister,our daughter. It can also happen to our father,our son ,our brother.It can happen to anyone, so passing judgement is the worst mistake we can make.There is a Koreans saying in dramas "I will be able to sleep with my legs straight tonight" and I finally will. I don't think we put a blind eye to a situation like this just to be in PSH side.. I believe and wish all this is a misunderstanding. There's a lot of information that is bogus... from speculation ... and hoping this is just a nightmare to be over soon for any of the people involved.

I don'believe that Park Shi Hoo would do that to a trainee. I think that she is trying to get some money out of him. Also I don't believe she was drunk at all. It just a misunderstanding to accuse him of that. She is just a money hungry person. I will always support Park Shi Hoo.She was wrong for that.I believe he is innocent. It just a gut a feeling he is.

He needs to leave those young girls alone! Personally, this looks so much like a case of "I'm gonna f__ck you up!" on the part of the girl as if her pride had been hurt. (i.e. told her she had to get up out there because he had somewhere to be) Going out to drink late night with two men, and not bring one of your girls along, is scandalous and naive to me. She wants to go out drinking and have a good time, then it is her fault. It is like drinking and driving you get drunk drive and then smash your car or even kill someone...
