A rom-com Korean drama with Song Seung-hun and Kim Tae-hee? And featuring the writer for Secret Garden? Why has it even taken this long for something so genius to even cultivate? However, while the premise for My Princess had all the makings of an epic romantic comedy and showed great promise in its early episodes, the drama’s shortcomings led to its waning popularity.

The Hallyu wave is still going strong – as many Korean pop stars and K-drama influences have made their way to multiple dramas on this list. Scandals also seem to fuel a star’s popularity in Japan – not hurt them. Veteran actors/actresses are also continuing to return to the small screen after a long hiatus. Arguably, I believe that the detective drama is the most popular genre, as you will always find a flurry of them every season, whether they’re new or old. The long-running Aibou, which is now in it’s 9th season, is currently raking up nearly a 20% ratings average and has two successful movies under its belt.
