The cast of My Sister

Almost any television show known to man includes some aspect or another of home life. Be it an overbearing mother ala Everybody Loves Raymond, or a quirky brother as found in Friends, one of the great things about prime-time television is that shows let us laugh at otherwise highly annoying personalities found in the people we love the most. Korean dramas are no exception to this, yet as Korea is a more family oriented society, the quirks and kinks of family life get the treatment much more often, in much more detail, and quite possibly, in a much more entertaining way!  From bad seed sibling rivalries to way too perfect parents, K-dramas give viewers a runs the whole gamut when it comes to what kind of dysfunctional family drama you want, or don’t want, to watch! Keep reading, and you’ll see what I mean.

Uehara Takako

Rain’s upcoming espionage drama Fugitive continues to heat up with the addition of Uehara Takako, from Japanese girl group Speed. She’ll be the hypotenuse to a love triangle involving Rain’s character and Lee Na Young. After Speed broke up in 2000, but before they reunited in 2008, Uehara starred with Ryu Shi Won in a Kdrama special, but mainly has been appearing in Japanese films and television. Comedian/actor/director Naoto Takanaka will also join the cast playing Uehara’s father.  Fugitive, whose plot has something to do with the unexplained reappearance of a huge cache of money lost after the Korean War, will begin airing late this year.

Very cool stills from tonight’s premier Gumiho: Tale of the Fox Child were released–get a preview of the drama that bills itself as a horror story with heart right here.

Son Ye Jin has backed out of My Way, the Hollywood-backed war epic by Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War director Kang Je Gyu. Reportedly changes were made to the scenario, and Son was put off by “a drastic reduction of her character’s weight.” Whether that’s metaphorical reduction in screen time or literal weight loss, she’s bailed and Kang now has to find a new leading lady opposite star Jang Dong Gun.

Whoops! Asked who his “ideal woman” is on Entertainment Weekly, Song Seung Heon for some reason chose Ha Ga In, who is his East of Eden co-star Yeon Jung Hoon’s wife. Pretty soon a pissed-off Yeon was on the phone with him asking what was up, and he had to issue an apology…

Park Shin Hye says she was “shaken and moved” by the support she received from fans of You’re Beautiful on her recent fan meeting in Japan. Not only Japanese fans of the show, but also those from Hong Kong, China, the U.S. and other places gathered to greet their favorite star and celebrate a much-loved series.

Finally, staff members over at CNN Asia were quizzed on which hot Korean celebs “elicited” the most “drool.” So get yourself a napkin and settle in for the conclusive list of South Korea’s 20 Hottest Male Celebrities.
