So Ji Sub

The cast of Gumiho: Tale of the Fox Child held a press conference to introduce the new series, and the spotlight was on child stars Kim Yoo Jung and Seo Shin Ae. Kim plays the title monster’s daughter and you may remember her from Iljimae and Dong Yi, and Seo stars as a prickly noblewoman’s daughter. She’s been in Thank You and High Kick Through the Roof. Han Eun Jung plays the Gumiho, a role she describes as “every actress’s fantasy.” Tale of the Fox Child premiers on Monday.

Although local police have declared Park Yong Ha’s tragic suicide Wednesday an impulsive act unrelated to financial or emotional problems, Ryoo Si Won has come out publicly with another story: he claims that Park was plagued by the “betrayal” of his friend and long-time manager.

So Ji Sub says that he doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to work on another drama quite like Road No. 1, or play a character with as much substance. He even says that he doesn’t mind the drama’s unimpressive ratings in the first two episodes (the World Cup has been poaching viewers from everything else, except perhaps for the counter-programmed Baker King Kim Tak Gu) because there is much more–and better–to come. The World Cup is also wreaking havoc on ratings of the much-rescheduled Bad Guy and Coffee House.

Han Hyo Joo appreciates her fans! The actress snapped pics of all the unguents and ointments fans have been sending her, worried about her health. See the cute photo collection here.

Lee Min Ho, who had an impostor tweeting in his name last year, now has his own official twitter account: subscribe to actorleeminho to get up-to-the-minute updates of Lee’s thoughts, such as his very first tweet: “I want to ride a bike.”

Bagmaker Manhattan Portage has its first Chinese, Mandarin-speaking spokesperson, and it’s… Show Luo! Check out his new spots sporting the famous messenger bags right here.

And finally, an unusual bit of eye candy for you: a collection of amazingly complex and beautiful hairdos from recent historical Kdramas and films.

Han Hyo Joo

Actor and singer Ryu Shi Won, who last starred in Style, is trying his hand as a music producer. Ryu is commandeering the return of Rottyful Sky, who debuted at the age of 13 in 1991. Her first album since then has been reportedly 8 years in the making.

Personal Taste’s Lee Min Ho is coming out to greet fans at a fan meeting scheduled for June 22nd. The event, titled The Special Day With Minoz, is open to 4,500 Korean and overseas fans, but it’s probably already too late to snag a ticket: within the first minute of sales, 2,500 tickets were sold!

IRIS has been repackaged as a feature film, and not only did they edit 20 hours of action down to movie size, they also cut three of the main stars out for the new poster, as seen at Cannes. One factor in the decision was to try to make the most of the international popularity of Big Bang’s T.O.P by giving him prominence on the poster.

Rain is heading into mandatory military service at the end of September. South Korean law allows you to postpone entrance into the army if you are a student until age 28, which is what Rain did (it also allowed him to continue his entertainment career, and completing his drama Fugitive).

New posters and images from a couple of new dramas on the horizon: first, from the lush historical drama Kim Suro starring Ji Sung. Then, in a completely different mood, sporty, kinda silly posters from UEE’s Birdie Buddy. I especially like Lee Da Hee’s golfing outfit.

Somebody has a crush on Han Hyo Joo… Well, probably a lot of people do, but this guy’s famous: Tatsuya Ueda, of the Japanese boy band KAT-TUN, has said that when the group tours Asia this year, there’s one special lady that he won’t leave Korea without meeting–and that’s the lovely Han.

Finally, a goofy low-fi photo series from Kpoppers 4minute: there are tears of joy, deadly staredowns and an all-out fight breaks out when the girls’ new album arrives!

Park Si Young and Kang Ji Hwan

Kim Sun Ah, previously cast as the female lead in the new rock drama I Am Legend, has quit the show due to production conditions. In light of Kim’s departure, producers also fired would-be co-stars Juni , Jang Shin Young and Hong Ji Min and are scrambling to recast the drama, which has now been pushed back for an August debut.

If you are enjoying Drama Fever’s new addition Dong Yi, you’ll want to check out this interview with the stars on set in Yongin. Han Hyo Joo, Lee Kwang Soo, Park Ha Sun and Jung Jin Young dish about shooting in isolation and often exhausting circumstances, Park’s cure for bloating, and what Jung really thinks of the show (he says it’s “fun.”)

Rainie Yang freaked out a bit on the set of the upcoming drama Sunshine Girl upon learning that her co-star would be none other than Wu Chun, who she feared was “even prettier” than her. Rainie also told the harrowing tale of her 10-day battle with constipation, which is really more than we needed to know.

A few new promo pics from Coffee House were released, showing Eun Jung from T-ara and Kang Ji Hwan looking very cute together.

Even though Rain came out saying that Lim Soo Jung is his ideal woman, it looks like he may be paired with Jun Ji Hyun in a new drama comeback tentatively titled either Runaway or Fugitive, which starts filming in June. And speaking of Rain, he’s joined 27 other stars in a national campaign to “upgrade Korea’s image” by speaking about their involvement promoting various government agencies.

Jeon Do Yeon, currently starring in The Housemaid, gave a sober interview in which she talked about returning to acting after the recent birth of her child. She says that her goal in making the film was to hone her acting ability against a truly difficult role, rather than appearing in light and easy fare.

Finally, internet star Kim Yeo Hee (also known as Iphone Girl because she creates her songs on the device) has scored a contract and will release her first album this May–check out Kim’s take on Beyonce here, and her Karina cover here!
