Jang Dong Gun and Ko So Young

Jang Dong Gun (All About Eve) and Ko So Young were married in an elaborate ceremony befitting Jang’s status as one of Korea’s most popular actors. The event had a guest list of 500 and drew many of the biggest stars in Korea, including Kim Nam Gil, Cha Seung Won and Lee Hye Young, who caught the bouquet. Whoa! IRIS just went on the air late last month in Japan, in the unprecedented (for a foreign drama) primetime spot, but it’s been suddenly yanked off in the face of copyright infringement claims by a Japanese company called Ainsuemuandoemu. The company claims to have created the drama in 2005. Hopefully for Japanese fans, the matter will be solved quickly so that the drama can continue airing. More about the details of the case, and past plagiarism claims against IRIS, are here.

Drama on the set of Bayside Shakedown 3, the Japanese summer blockbuster that was to introduce a new character played by Oguri Shun: evidently at co-star Oda Yuji’s insistence, Shun’s role has been swapped with that of Ito Atsushi. It seems that Oda felt Oguri was too fresh and clean looking to play his nephew in the detective film and pushed hard for Ito to take over the role.

Yoon Jung Hee

In a surprise development, Lee Jun Ki’s attempts to postpone mandatory military failed, forcing him to drop out of the medical drama Faith and the film Grand Prix, which he had already started filming with co-star Lee Tae Hee. Producers are now scrambling to replace Lee on Grand Prix, while filming scenes that do not include his character.

In speculative casting news: At this point it’s only a rumor, but Family’s Honor’s Yoon Jung Hee is said to have been cast to star in a new KBS drama called Marry Me. And in the role of the title nine-tailed fox of the Hong SistersMy Girlfriend is a Gumiho, 2NE1’s Sandara’s name is being floated online. Believe at your own risk!

Kim Hyun Joong fans will want to catch up with him in a new video for Gummy’s single As A Man, where the S501 hunkatron makes love to the camera and Jung Ryeo Won.

Gong Yoo and Lee Min Jung play a couple out on a bicycle date for Mind Bridge casual business clothing. Asked about the shoot, shooting staff praised Gong and Lee as total pros. Check out the fresh and sweet photo shoot here!

A few new photos from Yoon Eun Hye’s visit last month to Paris’ Cartier store have been released for next month’s W magazine–you can read more about her trip and see the pics here.

Ji Sung

Adding to the already substantial cameos on the rom-com Personal Taste, it was just announced that Yoon Eun Hye will join the series in episode 8 as an ex-girlfriend of Lee Min Ho’s character, named… Eun Hye!

We told you about Kang Ji Hwan’s upcoming turn as a blockbuster novelist in a drama called Page One, but nervous execs have gone and changed the title. The new name, said to draw an association to director Pyo Min Soo’s 2004 hit Full House, is Coffee House. But the characters of the publishing world drama will still hang out at a “Cafe Page One.” Sounds confusing to me. If they had to shoehorn “house” into the title, couldn’t they just call it Publishing House?

IRIS continues to get star treatment in Japan, with Big Bang signing on to sing a ballad for the soundtrack. There’s also some kind of Super IRIS All-Stars event called Dramatic Live Stage IRIS, including Big Bang, Lee Byung Hyun, Kim Tae Hee and others combining their talents to create unspecified IRIS-flavored entertainment.

Is Kim Hyun Jung being stalked in Spain? The question first came up when the star was tracked down in a huge soccer stadium by telephoto lens, and netizens are again concerned over these pics. These photos all seem fairly innocent to me, especially compared with the many photos fans must snap of him every day at home in Korea. What do you think?

Swallow the Sun’s Ji Sung will take his first sageuk role in Kim Suro, playing the title 1st century king. Read more about the tale of history, destiny and mythology and see Ji in his amazing period costume here.

Overjoyed Japanese fans met heartthrob Song Il Kook for a recent television broadcast–check out screengrabs here. Song looks like he’s going to give that one lady a heart attack!

Finally, a cool, low-key new commercial from Giodarno starring buddies So Ji Sub and Tiger JK. Enjoy!

Horan of Clazziquai

At a press conference in Shanghai for the Chinese adaptation of the Korean popular drama All About Eve, Jang Hyuk had to excuse himself several times to run to the bathroom. He did manage to come back for enough time to praise co-star Cheryl Yang, who is also leaving her home country of Taiwan to film the remake. Zhu Dan, inheriting Park Chae Rim’s role in the original, gushed that she’ll have a hard time breathing during their kissing scenes. These guys need to chill out!

Dong Yi and Birth of the Rich are head-to-head in the ratings war, but it looks like Birth has gained the confidence of execs who have extended the series 4 episodes for a total of 20. That pushes the premier of Lee Soo Kyung’s romantic comedy My Country Calls back to May 10th.

And speaking of Country, it’s just been announced that Horan from the experimental genre-fusing group Clazziquai will make her acting debut in the drama, playing an intelligence agent who is also the “perfect woman,” impeccable in appearance and succeeding at everything she tries. Sounds like the perfect match for A Man Called God

There was a kinda-not-really Coffee Prince reunion at a recent Louis Vuitton gala at which both Yoon Eun Hae and Gong Yoo dropped in. YEH appears to have enjoyed an over-decorated cotton candy-flavored cocktail.

Fans of Chuno and/or Brown Eyed Soul will want to check out the group’s latest video, starring Lee Da Hae.

Son Ye Jin and Lee Min Ho from PERSONAL TASTE

I won’t reveal anything in this post, but if you thought the finales of The Sopranos or Seinfeld were controversial, wait until you see how director Kim Byung Wook decided to finish off the star-studded family sitcom High Kick Through The Roof! Kim went against the intent of the series’ writer and made the unilateral decision only two days before broadcast. You’ve been warned–click here ONLY if you want to know the ending that sent viewers’ jaws dropping!

High Kick’s replacement is another family rom-com, this one starring Kim Sung Soo. More Charming by the Day is the story of a family of five women that finds itself thrown for a loop when the matriarch’s long-lost husband returns. For more details on the fledgeling series, click here.

Jang Geun Suk and Min Hyo Rin teamed up for a preppy spring fashion spread in InStyle magazine.

Dong Yi premiered to respectable ratings, a bit below timeslot competitor Jejoongwon. The first two episodes of the 50-ep historical drama featured the return of child actor Kim Yoo Jung, familiar to viewers from her roles in Iljimae and Tamra the Island.
