IFC Films picked up North American distribution rights for The Housemaid, which debuted at Cannes in May and has sold over 2.3 million tickets in Korea since its release.

The erotic thriller by director Im Sang-soo is a remake of the classic 1960 film, and stars Jeon Do-yeon as the titular housemaid who seduces Lee Jung-jae away from his pretty young bride, Seo Woo. Things don’t pan out exactly how the maid would like, so she takes her own kind of revenge. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t need much more than this to seal the deal for me. Sold.

Min Hyo Rin makes her acting debut as Lee Haru.

Figure skating gets worldwide attention this week with the Olympic showdown between Kim Yu-Na and Mao Asada. If only someone could take that energy and excitement and turn it into a Kdrama… well, that someone would be the Coffee Prince writer-director team of Lee Jung Ah and Lee Yoon Jung with Triple!

Singer Min Hyo Rin makes her acting debut as Lee Haru, a talented figure skater who gives up her skating career after tragedy strikes her family. Years later, her competitive spirit rises again and she moves to Seoul to train. She crashes with her stepbrother Shin Hwal (played by Lee Jung Jae) who isn’t looking forward to a family reunion. Thankfully she gets a warmer welcome from his roommates Hae Yoon (Lee Sun Gyun) and Hyun Tae (Yoon Kye Sang).

What Haru doesn’t plan is feelings for her gruff stepbrother, and when her new skating coach (Lee Hana) turns out to be Hwal’s ex-wife, all sorts of sparks begin to fly, not just between Hwal and Haru but between all the roommates. Find out what happens when the creative behind Coffee Prince teams brings some you some rinkside drama. Watch Triple here on DramaFever!

We finish the Ten Days of DramaFever with the very popular Triple! New Yorkers can also stop by our DF Launch Party tonight!

Reuniting the director (Lee Yoon Jung) and writer (Lee Jung Ah) of The First Shop of Coffee Prince for the first time and featuring a cast of high-profile stars, including movie star Lee Jung Jae and Lee Sun Gyun, better known as “The Voice”, Triple is a whimsically compelling look at a group of people who are drawn together by one girl’s dream of becoming an ice-skating champion. Singer Min Hyo-rin in her acting debut stars along with Yoon Kye-Sang, coming off his raved-about and impressive turn in 2008 drama Who Are You?

After her mother and stepfather are killed in a car crash, talented ice-staker Lee Haru (Min Hyo-Rin) gives up her pursuit of an ice-skating career and goes to live with her father. Five years later, an encounter with an old rival sparks her competitive streak again. Haru decides to move to Seoul to train and stay with her ex-stepbrother, Shin Hwal (Lee Jung-jae), whom she hasn’t seen in years.

Hwal (Lee Jung Jae) is less than pleased to find a stepsister he hasn’t seen in years appearing on his doorstep, but his roommates, Hae-yoon (Lee Sun Gyun) and Hyun-tae (Yoon Kye-Sang) welcome her whole-heartedly. What Haru doesn’t plan on, however, on beginning to develop feelings for her gruff stepbrother, and when her new skating coach (Lee Hana) turns out to be Hwal’s ex-wife, all sorts of sparks begin to fly, not just between Hwal and Haru but between all the foursome living in the house.

Combining the trademark exceptional writing and directing of the Coffee Prince team and a soundtrack featuring indie artists such as Tearliner and Zitten, Triple is a funny and addicting drama. One girl’s struggle to make her dream come true can change the lives of all around her.

aircity_wpFor our high-school teenage audience, it was Lee Min Ho in Boys Over Flowers that turned you into drama addicts. For our slightly older crowd it was Rain in Full House. For the Japanese middle-aged ladies, it definitely was Bae Yong Joon in Winter Sonata. For us, it was Lee Jung Jae in Sandglass (now that’s old school!). It is with great pleasure that today we release Air City, starring Lee Jung Jae (playing Kim Ji Sung) alongside gorgeous Choi Ji Woo (playing Han Do Kyung).

The story line revolves around the security operations of Korea’s Incheon International Airport, with smugglers, criminals and other related scum trying to get in and out of the country. Ji Sung is in charge of national security and his character portrays that penetrating intensity that Korean men are know for, that sometimes gets lost when watching boy bands like SJ on youtube. He is passionate and reacts on gut instinct, both at his job and at love. Do Kyung’s character also displays features that I wish more main actresses would embody – a self assured leader, she speaks five language (hola mi amor…), and oversees the operations at Incheon. Of course, she has a troublesome past which gives her personality a deep and complex character. Why are broken people so much more attractive?

Enter handsome Lee Jin Wook (playing Kang Ha Joon) and Moon Jung Hee (Seo Myung Woo) and you have an assortment of current and past lovers mixing and matching. It turns out there is zero tolerance for breaking the law in the airport but in love there are no rules.

Hope you enjoy it and, as always, thanks for your continued support! Watch Air City now!

BTW – We also added new episodes for Boys Over Flowers, I Really Really Like You, Jewel in the Palace, Jumong, What Planet Are You From?, Who Are You?, and Yisan.
