Oguri Shun

Multitalented actor/director Oguri Shun will take on the challenging, iconic role of A Clockwork Orange’s vicious antihero Alex starting next January. The classic ultraviolent film directed by Stanley Kubrick was based on Anthony Burgess‘ novel, who also wrote this stage adaptation. This will also mark the first time that Oguri has sung on stage, in a production studded with “video scenes and music.”

You have to see this: the new trailer for My Girlfriend is a Gumiho reveals the comic, fanciful tone of the Hong Sisters‘ latest. Starring Lee Seung Gi and Shin Mina, the show so far looks like a lot of fun. Girlfriend lands on August 11th.

The year of the Gumiho already began for Tale of the Fox’s Child, which takes a more traditional, horror-themed view of the mythical creature. New pics from behind the scenes of the creepy drama show the cast giving their best zombie glares.

Yoon Eun Hye models the 2010 Fall line from fashion house Joinus. The shoot features Yoon wandering around an elegant mansion, and then… donning leather gloves and a whip?

A couple of new stills from the keenly anticipated, possibly campy rock drama I Am Legend show Kim Jung Eun (playing a well-kept Real Housewives type with a rebellious streak) in lockdown. Her character lands in jail after a bar brawl, all the while wearing haute couture of course.

Finally, a charity basketball game between Show Luo and Jay Chou almost ended in tears when Jay got smacked in the face with the ball. Still, both Show and Jay were able to make 7 baskets each, raising about $35,000 US for Yao Ming’s Yao Foundation.

Lee Seung Gi in My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho

Lee Seung Gi took time out from filming My Girlfriend is a Gumiho to surprise his Twitter followers by introducing them to the centuries-old new woman in his life, Shin Min Ah. Born around 1400 (but who’s counting?), Shin’s character will creep out her boyfriend when the Hong Sisters’ latest lands August 11th.

And if you’re still curious about Gumiho, check out the latest stills from the show–looks like a fun mix of horror (something about the coloring seems very horror movie to me) and goofy comedy.

Nichkhun will cameo on the sitcom More Charming By the Day next week–word is he plays a young man from Thailand with a major case of drama fever, gushing over Kdramas and doing a pretty good satire of hammy acting.

A new report says that the Hallyu wave in Japan is taking a different shape these days, with less people tuning in to Korean dramas, and more (and younger) consumers being attracted to idol bands. The article notes the failure of the recent transplant IRIS, but wasn’t that show’s poor ratings due to it being butchered by the network with bad dubbing and drastic editing?

Oguri Shun has arrived in Seoul to appear at a film festival showing his directorial debut Surely Sunday. Check out photos of the man in the denim onesie right here.

Finally, everyone who follows drama news for any amount of time knows how prevalent false casting rumors are. Ever wondered why so much “news” turns out to be just wishful thinking? Take a look at this article for some reasons. Predictably, false casting rumors can be started by the production company or an actor’s agency to stir up excitement and popular support for a certain drama-actor combo. And sometimes the press just invents the story out of thin air!

It looks like the sparks between Jo Kwon and Ga In on We Got Married just might be the real thing. Although the two just pretended to be married on the series, both agreed said that they would consider dating offscreen on the variety show Come To Play. Jo Kwon even said that he often misses Ga In, and that he wouldn’t ever take another girlfriend to the places they had visited together…

Han Eun Jung revealed her gumiho character in the upcoming supernatural revenge drama Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child. Check out her pic and more details on the “suspenseful melodrama” right here.

And about that other gumiho drama this summer, here’s Lee Seung Gi looking very wrapped up and shielded from the sun on a recent bike expedition. The reason? Evidently he needs to look super pale for My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho

Kim Joon’s mobile phone drama The Love of Pygmalion is a smash hit–in fact, it’s been the number-one mobile program (fighting for attention against shows on 40 other channels) for two straight weeks in Japan, particularly winning over middle-aged women.
