by Dan in News on Jul 9, 2010

Shin Min Ah

Road No. 1 star So Ji Sub bares all in a new interview in which he’s asked about his new drama’s audience share, getting injured on the set, and why he’s sick of playing the nice guy.

Playful Kiss has its leading man! The boy-next-door who’s the best at everything in the upcoming adaptation of Itazura na Kiss is… Kim Hyun Joong He beat out strong competition, as it’s been widely reported that Chang Min from DBSK and Jung Yong Hwa were also angling for the role. The nerdy girl who Kim’s character falls for has still not been cast, but Park Shin Hye and Sulli from f(x) are said to be in the running.

Wu Chun came out as a confirmed bachelor in a recent interview. The Taiwanese heartthrob, in Okinawa to promote his new drama Angel of Sunshine, was quizzed about his love life and said that he hadn’t dated in 14 years! Angel co-star Rainie Yang backed up Wu, saying that unlike other men she’s worked with, he never ever flirts with her on set. The article concludes, “one still can’t help but to wonder what is occupying the mind of this secretive hunk.” What a mystery!

Speaking of secrets, Jang Hyuk is returning to drama in a new show called Secret Garden. Little is known about the premise of the show, but it has a great pedigree: On Air PD Shin Eun Chul will be in charge, and it’s set to take over Life Is Beautiful‘s timeslot when that drama concludes.

Have a look at an unauthorized peek at My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, the upcoming Hong Sisters fantasy. A fan was just minding his own business when he came across stars Lee Seung Ki and Shin Min Ah and decided to click away for our benefit.

Finally, in these hot summer months, which K-pop idol would you take on vacation with you? That’s the question posed in a new survey by Max Movie–see the full results right here!

Coffee Prince‘s Yoon Eun Hye will return to drama late this year opposite Park Yong Ha in Love Song, a remake of Hong Kong’s 1996 Comrades: Almost A Love Story. The new drama will be written by Winter Sonata scribe Oh Soo Yeon, and Yoon‘s character is described as an innocent young woman who travels from China to Korea and is Park‘s “unforgettable love.” The romance starts filming in August.

Kim Soo Ro star Ji Sung is in recovery after an on-set head injury halted filming. The sharp edge of another actor’s helmet struck Ji right below his left eye, and the director immediately sent him off to the hospital.

Speaking of Kim So Ro, Ji Sung‘s co-star (hopefully not the one with the pointy helmet) Go Joo Won announced that when the drama finishes taping in September, he’ll enlist for his mandatory stint in the army.

Think you have the design skills to create the title logo for a Hong Sisters romance? My Girlfriend is a Gumiho is having a contest to see who can make the most appealing logo for the show–details are here (in Korean), and you have until July 9th. Good luck!

If you live in New York City, you might catch Boys Over FlowersGu Hye Sun on Broadway! He and co-stars Daniel Choi and Ok Joo Hyun will be traveling to the Big Apple to shoot scenes from their new drama The Musical on location in the Broadway district.

Park Shi Hoo fans will want to check out photos from his recent appearance in an unnamed Japanese magazine, along with a newly-translated interview from his trip to Osaka.

What happens when you take a suave sophisticate like Wu Chun and pair him with a whacked-out loose cannon like Rainie Yang? Evidently they get along great, according to this new article on their eagerly-awaited Taiwanese drama Sunshine Angel.

Finally, Lee Da Hae‘s new pics from a trip to China have netizens guessing about recent plastic surgery. So did she go under the knife? Have a look and see what you think.

I AM LEGEND Goes Back to the Drawing Board

Park Si Young and Kang Ji Hwan

Kim Sun Ah, previously cast as the female lead in the new rock drama I Am Legend, has quit the show due to production conditions. In light of Kim‘s departure, producers also fired would-be co-stars Juni , Jang Shin Young and Hong Ji Min and are scrambling to recast the drama, which has now been pushed back for an August debut.

If you are enjoying Drama Fever’s new addition Dong Yi, you’ll want to check out this interview with the stars on set in Yongin. Han Hyo Joo, Lee Kwang Soo, Park Ha Sun and Jung Jin Young dish about shooting in isolation and often exhausting circumstances, Park‘s cure for bloating, and what Jung really thinks of the show (he says it’s “fun.”)

Rainie Yang freaked out a bit on the set of the upcoming drama Sunshine Girl upon learning that her co-star would be none other than Wu Chun, who she feared was “even prettier” than her. Rainie also told the harrowing tale of her 10-day battle with constipation, which is really more than we needed to know.

A few new promo pics from Coffee House were released, showing Eun Jung from T-ara and Kang Ji Hwan looking very cute together.

Even though Rain came out saying that Lim Soo Jung is his ideal woman, it looks like he may be paired with Jun Ji Hyun in a new drama comeback tentatively titled either Runaway or Fugitive, which starts filming in June. And speaking of Rain, he’s joined 27 other stars in a national campaign to “upgrade Korea’s image” by speaking about their involvement promoting various government agencies.

Jeon Do Yeon, currently starring in The Housemaid, gave a sober interview in which she talked about returning to acting after the recent birth of her child. She says that her goal in making the film was to hone her acting ability against a truly difficult role, rather than appearing in light and easy fare.

Finally, internet star Kim Yeo Hee (also known as Iphone Girl because she creates her songs on the device) has scored a contract and will release her first album this May–check out Kim‘s take on Beyonce here, and her Karina cover here!

It’s been a chilly winter with all the outdoor shoots for the cast and crew of Pasta, so lead actor Lee Seon Kyun surprised everyone with a New Year’s gift of 70 jackets! What a sweet guy–in total contrast from the boss-from-hell character he plays on the new drama which begins tonight!

2009 was a GREAT year for Kim Hyun Jung. Not only did the SS501 member star in Boys Over Flowers, he also ended up number 5 on the list of top 10 earners of the year. Since the list is dominated by music groups and veteran stars, this is an amazing accomplishment for a solo star who’s only been on the scene for five years! KHJ marked the New Year with a kinda generic blog message and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it “Hi guys!” video with Yoon Eun Hye.

We reported on the unusual lengths that Ethan Ruan (My Queen) and Mark Chao were willing to go to in order to promote their new film Monga, and now here are more details on the ambitious Taiwanese gangster film. The studio is standing strong behind Monga, which will open in more theaters than Sherlock Holmes, and aims to be a hit to surpass Hollywood imports.

It’s official–Aibu Saki (Buzzer Beat) is dating her Utahime co-star Nagase Tomoya! More details, and a rather unflattering paparazzi photo of the two out on the town, are here.

Did Wu Chun (Hot Shot) lip sync his way through a tv New Year’s Countdown special? You be the judge!

Taiwanese drama fans had a lot to be thankful for last year, with the hits Easy Fortune Happy Life, Black & White and My Queen. You can catch up on dramas you may have missed in this year in review.

The Fever Watch – Nov 11, 2009

by Dan in News on Nov 11, 2009

so_ji_sub_01If you liked So Ji Sub (pictured) in Cain and Abel, you can catch him again in the upcoming war drama Road Number One. Described here as a Korean Band of Brothers, the drama begins filming in January. With Kim Jin Min (Bittersweet Life, Time Between Dog and Wolf) at the helm, we’re excited for this drama airing late next spring.

Ahn Hye Kyung (I Really Really Like You) and Haha really really broke up after five years together. She admitted as much when she announced on the show Star Couple that she’d really really like to marry a guy with a stable income–you know, like a teacher, or a public worker…guess Haha was watching!

Here‘s a quick rundown of some Hong Kong flicks to watch for in the Chinese New Year, including Wu Chun in in the martial arts film 14 Blades, and the return of the Shaw Brothers studio!
